James Ashby Atkins was charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence said the Trooper. In the early hours of March 21 five miles west of Sperryville, a 1956 Mack tractortrailer jackknifed when it skidled on the snow and struck a bank. According to Trooper J. B. Willis, the operator of the rig was John Daniel Murphy of Knoxville, Tenn. He sustained lacerations of the forehead and abrasions of the right hand and leg. Damage was estimated at $400. A 56 Chevrolet convertible operated by Roger Dale Blevins of Wilmington, Del. overturned on Route 211 at the east limits of Washington early Tuesday morning. According to Trooper P. P. Dick$ Blevins lost control of the vehicle as he skidded on a curve and flipped over on the top. The operator was not injured nor were the three passengers riding with him. Blevins was charged with failing to drive to the right of the center of the road.
