Taxpayers Responsible For Entries on Returns
Taxpayers are responsible for all entries and supporting documents in their Federal income tax returns. Tax payers planning to seek help on their 1966 returns should keep this in mind, District Director of Internal Revenue James p. Boyle said today. No matter who prepares the return, the taxpayer himself is responsible for the correctness of it. This means that he will be responsible for full payment of any additional tax, permittee, and interest that may result from an incorrectly prepared return. Taxpayers should, therefore, be wary of the practitioner who guarantees a tax refund on returns he prepares.
