An estimated crowd of over 2,000 spectators braved Sunday’s gale winds and low temperature to see the running of the annual Rappahannock Hunt Point-to-Point Races at Thornton Hill Farm nearSperryville. The races, which had been postponed from Saturday because of snow last week, proved exciting though entries in some races were slight. August Acorn, owned and rid den by David H. Semmes.took the feature race, The Ben Venue, winning by a length over John Hughes, Twig. In third place was Twin Peaks owned and ridden by Randolph Rouse who was shooting for a third straight victory in this race.
