Popeye Says, “I yam what I yam.” In Exodus 3:14 from a burning bush a voice says, “I am that I am.” One translation says it this way, “I am who I am.” Was this personality stating His real name, a state of being, did He say in effect, “I AM all there is, there is nothing else beside.” Should we see a burning bush would we turn aside to see if God had a message in this phenomenon, or would we pass on by, saying “Autumn is coming early this year?”
I like to think that God speaks to us from every bush, from every tree, from every blade of grass. Pause beneath a giant tree, gaze up through the filigree of its interwoven branches, examine leaves. Can you find two alike? Only the Divine Architect could create such intricacies, such variety. It is easy to concur with Joyce Kilmer, ‘Only God can make a tree.’
