The marriage of Miss Martin Pauline Shillingburg to Daniel Edward Belanger was solemnized Saturday, March 15, 1969 at two o’clock in Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, Virginia. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Samuel Shillingburg of Washington and the bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Belanger of Fairfax.
The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Reverend William M. Hargett before an altar background of white pompons and snapdragons and lighted candelabra.
Miss Carter Moffett presented a program of music including traditional wedding marches.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal A-line gown of white organza with the skirt ending in a circular train. The bodice of Venice lace was designed with a high old fashioned neckline and long sleeves. Her veil of illusion was attached to a satin bow and she carried a nosegay of white pompons and baby’s breath centered with white carnations.
Mrs. Linda Slusser of Alexandria was matron of honor. Her long gown was of pale pink linen designed with short sleeves and rolled collar trimmed in braid. The back featured a row of satin covered buttons and braids from the neck to hemline. Her headpiece was a double bow veiled with pink illusion, and she carried a nosegay of contrasting pink carnations and baby’s breath with satin streamers.
Miss Carolyn Johnston of Washington and Miss Woodie Withrow of Madison were bridesmaids. Their dresses and headpieces were a deep candy pink and designed like that of the honor attendant. They too, carried contrasting pink carnation nosegays.
