Barksdale, of the| Rappahannock County Agricultural Stabilization and I Conservation Committee that they may be eligible for help with 1 the expenses through the Agricultural Conservation Program. “The program may assume up to 80 percent of the cost of lime, fertilizer, major tillage, protective fencing, and pipe to provide water,” he said. Only low-income farmers, as determined by the county committee, qualify for the home garden ACP practice. In general, this means small producers who are largely dependent on farming and whose finances are too limited to permit them to do conservation work at the usual cost-sharing rate. Chairman Barksdale said producers interested in the home garden ACP practice should inquire at the ASCS county office for details on eligibility and: practice requirements. I Cost-sharing for conservation work in home gardens is limited to gardens of not more than 2 acres and not less than one-fourth | of an acre, he noted.
