Ruritans Set Dinner;

Hear Dairyman

Nearly forty members and their guests participated in the regular club dinner meeting last Wednesday evening of the Amissville Ruritan Club. The fine chicken dinner was served by the ladies of Amissville Baptist Church. It is noted by this column that the ladies of the community are a valuable adjunct to the Ruritan’s program, a fact attested to when chairman Charlie Priest of the benefit dinner committee presented hu report. This affair is scheduled for this Saturday, March 29 at the Amissville fire hall from 5 to 8 p.m. with club members caring for the service and immediate needs of the occasion. However, behind the backdrop of showmanship there lies the little publicized efficiency of the distaff which provides those golden turned turkeys and the homemade delicacies which top all-you-can-eat. It is now recognized that those cooks at home are the unsung heroines who “volunteered” when chairman Priest asked who will cook an old Virginia ham and who a lemon pie.

Proceeding the business of the meeting, president Gilbert Lawrence, called on T.C. Barron to introduce a representative of the Mary land-Virginia Milk

There 1 are among us those bent on befouling every square foot of our landscape, either purposely by hauling whole sacks of trash from home to throw along the road, or unconsciously like those who can gurgle down a beer and flip the can out the window all in one motion. Hopefully though, most people will respect the work of these boys and keep the area clean. Some will think twice i before littering a cleaned roadway and stream.
