Letter To Editor '

To the Editor:

At the dinner Friday night honoring W. H. Lyne at his retirement, I was called upon to say a few words. Not being prepared, I said a few words, but a few words are not enough for an outstanding man like Bill Lyne, and I would like to add a few more.

About eight years ago I attended a Virginia B.C.I.A. meeting .which was arranged and conducted by Bill. The purpose : of this meeting was to discuss the importance of performance - records, etc. in beef cattle and try to get new members in this group.

To make a success of anything you must believe in it. Bill believed in B. C. I. A. and he convinced me to believe in it. I joined and have been a member ever since. I started out with the herd of cows which I had, rating mostly at the bottom end. With the help of Bill in cow culling, selecting replacements heifers and herd bulls with good performance records, I was fortunate enough to top the two annual Virginia B.C.I.A. bull sales this month with a record breaking price.

I give Bill credit for this success.
