finance the project which is a major one concerning only a few people. Some of the homes concerned have no indoor plumbing and not an adequate water supply for same. Some have septic systems, apparently functioning, but possibly polluting also. It is a problem with many facets.
An old wound reopened is the dumping situation in Rappahannock.
The county dump committee is studying the eternal problem of public dumping facilities which in recent weeks has been magnified with the fire at the county dump in Amissville and the inadequate service of the refuse company operating here. Complaints about the Amissville dump range from rodents, fumes, use by ineligible persons to improper use by local citizens. A petition to close the dump had been handed the Board of Supervisors at the regular December meeting and had been signed by numerous citizens in that area.
The refuse company which has a contract for providing dumster units and servicing same in Rappahannock had at first seemed satisfactory, but complaints indicate that at present the service is inadequate and the company is not honoring its contract. The dumpsters are overloaded, unsightly and unsanitary.
