Guests for the day Saturday of Mrs. Sarah Latham and Susan to attend the house tour were Mrs. C. C. Cockerill, Mrs. W. H. Kephart and Mrs. H. B. Peck, all of Herndon. Mr. and Mrs. David Hoadley of Arlington were overnight guests Saturday of the Lathams. Guests for dinner Sunday of Mrs. John Poe were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Welch of Arlington and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Poe and family. Recent guests of Mrs. Poe were Mrs. Lavinia Mills of Warrenton, Mrs. Bernice Butler, Fairfax, Mrs. Flossie Cloud, Culpeper and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shelton of Manassas.
Mrs. Ruth Corbitt has returned to her home after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. George Ballew in Hampton. Enroute home she visited her granddaughter, Mrs.
Harrisonburg - Rockingham County Izaak Walton League who will furnish prizes for winners.
The Eastern Regional contest i to be held October 17 at the Deer Park Elementary School (Routes 17 and 143) in Newport News. Entries must be in by 5 p.m. that day. The Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association will sponsor the event and provide prizes for the Eastern Winners. The top trophies may then be taken to Harrisonburg the following week for State competition.
State awards will be made foi deer antlers in the following classes: (1) nine points or more (2) seven and eight points, (3) si> points or less and (4) bow anc arrow. Antlers must be attachec to the skull but the head need noi be mounted. In the turkey class hunters should bring tail, win| and beard for scoring. Bears art scored on the basis of skul measurements. Game is to tx entered in the region in which i was killed during the 1969-7( hunting season east or west of th< line dividing the deer season tha year. State contest winner receive certificates and plaque from the Game Commission.
