Virginia traffic daatha for the first nine months of 1970 numbered 909 to compare favorably with the 948 experienced during the same period of 1969, Colonel H. W. Burgess, Superintendent of State Police, announced today.
He noted that reductions were obtained in January (98-84), May (116-98), June (132-100), July (117-109) and August (133-121). Increases were experienced in February (86-103), March (76-89), April (83-86) and September (109-119). The 103 of February represented an all time high for the month. Mrs. C. M. Ramey of Slate Mills has completed a 28-day tour of the United States and Canada and returned to her home. She joined an excursion promoted by the American Association of Retired Persons, Shenandoah Valley Chapter, which originated in Strasburg.
The group traveled north to Canada, then west to Winnipeg, Lake Louise and the Canadian Rockies. Traveling south through Vancouver, British Columbia, they re-entered the States, visiting in Washington and Oregon. Continuing south to California, stops were made in San Francisco, Sacramento and the valley and Sequoia National Park. Extending the trip eastward, they went through Nevada and Utah where two nights were spent at Salt Lake City. Continuing east through Kansas and Missouri the excursion returned to Strasburg, and home.
