I TITERS to EDITOR

Dear Mrs. Latham:

In the November 26th issue oi The Rappahannock News, Mrs. Hazel Crumpton, district managei of Medicare, offers her regular seasonal advice to Medicare members.

She states that Medicare Medical Insurance, the voluntary part of Medicare that helps pay doctor bills and other health services, pays 80% of covered expenses after the first $50.00.

According to an article in Action Line in a recent edition of The Washington Star, payments now amount to slightly over 50% of the bills (after $50.00 deductible). This was based, Action Line stated, on advice from The Travelers Insurance Co. of Roanoke, Va. who reported that payments are based on 80% of 1968 charges, and that actual reimbursement therefore amounts to just over 50%.

Very truly yours,

Mrs. Donald M. Gehring
