Ruritans To Hear
Navy Officer
Lt. Cdr. Oren D. Bruton, USNR, who resides in Bowie, Md. will be the speaker at the Feb. 17th meeting of the Amissville Ruritan Club. His subject on patriotism will center on pertinent issues relative to P.O.W.’s held captive in Southeast Asia and the plans for their repatriation in the event of their release.
Cdr. Bruton received his commission from the U.S.M.C. in 1954, upon graduation from the University of North Carolina, and served on active duty with the 1st Marine Air Wing in Korea until December, 1958. He is a member of the Reserve Officers Association and assigned to the Naval Intelligence Division, Washington, D. C., having transferred to the Navy in 1967.
Cdr. Bruton recently completed an intensive two weeks training course at FAETU PAC U. S. Naval Air Station, North Island, San Diego, Calif, on “Intelligence Debriefing for POWs.”
The Brutons own a small farm in Rappahannock County where they are frequent visitors. Cdr. B^fton comes to the Ruritan C?Jb at the special invitation of the Club’s Citizenship and Patriotism Committee.
