Frank McGee, noted TV news correspondent, and his wife, Nialta Sue, have purchased Jessamine Hill, one of the most beautiful and historic landmarks in Rappahannock County and plan to make it their permanent home some time in the future. For the present the McGees will spend many weekends and vacation periods at Jessamine Hill, located near Washington, Va.
The McGees live in Scarsdale, tew York, within commuting distance of the National Broadcasting Company’s main studios where he usually shares the “NBC Nightly News” report with David Brinkley, who also has a home in Rappahannock County, and John Chancellor. McGee, winner of the coveted “Emmy” Award and two George Foster Peabody Awards, has been off the air for several weeks while recuperating from surgery.
In addition to the handsome brick manor house, built in 1841, the estate includes a charming guest house, a tenant house, formal gardens, a lake, an eight-box stall barn, plus other barns and outbuildings, with 100 acres of land.
