After a stint with KITO, a radio station in San Bernardino, California, he signed on as newscaster with a large radio station, WKY, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as a featured broadcaster' over the new medium, television. After five good years there, he went to Montgomery, Alabama at the request of the owner of the station to start a news department at WSFA, which his employer had bought.
