bodies to provide for exemption from real estate taxes the dwelling of a person 65 years of age if the combined net income of the inhabitants does not exceed $7500 and the combined net worth does not exceed $20,000 excluding the value of the dwelling. This bill will now go to the Senate where it will be referred to a committee for consideration and action.
A bill which caused quite a bit of debate on the floor of the House of Delegates was one which would make it mandatory that women serve on juries. Under the existing law a woman has the option of serving or not but under the bill as proposed she would not have this option. After much debate this bill was defeated.
Mrs. Tuma Hostess For Garden Club
The Rappahannock County Garden Club will meet Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Richard Tuma near Washington, Va. The program “Propagation of Plants” will be presented by Mrs. W. R. Williamson. The Exhibit will be “House Plants”.
