Spicers Murder
Charge Dismissed
Following a hearing in Culpeper j County Court Friday, a murder charge against Russell W. Spicer Urf-* Amissville was dismisssed Spicer had been charged with thf shooting and subsequent death oi Ned R. Stringfellow. The shooting occurred January 12 at Spicer’s home and Stringfellow succumbec in Fauquier Hospital, Warrentor on the 18th of January.
Spicer admitted shooting Stringfellow when questioned by authorities and gave them the 22 calibre pistol which he said he used. According to testimony given by members of the families, a continuing disagreement between the two men existed and Stringfellow was aware there was a trespass warrant issued for him which had not been served.
A motion was made by Spicer’s attorney for dismissal on the grounds that he was acting to protect hi« home when he fired the shots. The Commonwealth’s Attorney concurred and the judge ordered the charge dismissed.
