Population equalization will have to be done every ten years according to the requirements of the Civil Rights Voting Act of 1965 which necessitated the reapportionment in several southern states including Virginia. A public hearing on the reapportionment and on the county budget for the fiscal year which begins July 1 are scheduled for the June 3rd meeting of the Board after official notice is made. William Vernam, State Forrester with the Virginia Division of Forestry, appeared at the Board meeting to discuss the possibility of securing a low frequency radio for the local Fire Warden’s truck. This would keep him in contact with mobile county fire units when necessary.
