The Amissville annual benefit carnival opened last night for a four-night stand at the carnival grounds west of the village on Route 211. Sponsored by Amissville Fire Company and Rescue Squad, the carnival will continue through Saturday with activities which include a grand parade tonight, Thursday; a coronation ceremony for a carnival queen and the awarding of many prizes, Friday and Saturday nights.

Entered in tonight’s parade are fire and rescue units, floats, beauty queens, marching units, individual and group majorettes and many more. The parade is set for 6:30 p.m. and a plate supper will be available on the grounds following it. Hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, cake, etc. will also be sold tonight and each night.

Garden Club Meets Wed. August 25

The Rappahannock County Garden Club will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25 at the home of Mrs. E. N. Montague near Sperryville. The program, conducted by Mrs. Richard Tuma, will be on Wild Flowers, with Wild Flower Arrangements as the exhibit.
