Delegate Duncan C. Gibb, who represents Fauquier, Rappahannock, and Warren Counties in the Virginia General Assembly, has been advised by the Chairman of the Pari-Mutuel Betting Study .Commission that hearings will be he^I by the. Commission at the Lake Wrigfit Motel, Norfolk, bn September 21, 1971; George Mason College, “Lecture Hall,” in Fairfax on September 23, 1971; Bristol Virginia Utilities, Board Auditorium, in Bristol on September 29, 1971; Hotel Roanoke, “Shenandoah Room,” in Roanoke on September 30, 1971; and State Department of Highways in Richmond on October 5, 1971.
Delegate Gibb stated that this Study Commission was established by a resolution adopted at the 1971 Special Session of the General Assembly to study the feasibility and desirability of permitting Pari-Mutuel Betting on Horse Racing in Virginia under regulation of the State. The Chairman of the Commission advised Delegate Gibb that the purpose of these public hearings was to provide an opportunity for all interested persons to present their views and factual information on this question.
Delegate Gibb further stated that the Study Commission will make its report and recommendations to the next session of the General Assembly in January for such action as it wishes to take.
