Community Concert
Saturday Evening
The first concert in the 1970-71 series sponsored by the Culpeper Community Concert Association will be held Saturday, November 13, at the Culpeper High School Auditorium at 8 p.m. “Stars of Jazz”, a spectacular musical combination of seven of today’s jazz artists will be presented. To be played in the spirit of improvisation which is the heart of real jazz, the program will be a narrative study. It will include all styles of jazz performance-from the earliest New Orleans and St. Louis to the later Chicago styles. The group includes the starstudded names of Eddie Condon, guitarist, “Wild” Bill Davison on trumpet, Barney Bigard, clarinetist, Jim Beebe, trombonist, Hillard Brown, drummer, Robert “Rails” Wilson bass sax, and Art Hodes, piano. The evening promises fine entertainment for holders of concert tickets.
Mrs. McNear Hostess For Garden Club
The Rappahannock Garden Club will meet at Greenwood Farm, the home of Mrs. Evan A. McNear, Washington, on Wednesday, November 17 at 2 p.m. Mrs. C. E. Johnson jr. is chairman of the program which is “Exchange of Christmas Ideas.” The exhibit will be to bring your “Own Thing.” Please notify the hostess if you will be unable to attend.
October Rain Decreases

Visitation to Shenandoah National Park in the month of October was down 15.8% as compared to October a year ago. Total visitors in October 1971 numbered 310,600 and last year, 1970, the total was 366,700. Fog and rainy conditions throughout the month attributed to the decrease in travel. At Big Meadows the rainfall measured 11.36 inches and the maximum temperature was 70
