John Daniel Mahoney of Rock ville, Md., 61, died December 13, 1971 in Surburban Hospital, Bethesda, Md. His wife, Mrs. Verlie M. Mahoney died in 1969. Survivors include four stepchildren, James Fellers, Mrs Hester Parkes, Mrs. Violet Pritchett and Mrs Lucy Tharp; a brother, Harrison Mahoney of Chester Gap; two sisters, Mrs. Ada North of Chester Gap and Mrs. Hattie Lowry of Rockville, Md.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A funeral service was held Thursday afternoon at Chester Gap Baptist Mission, conducted by the Rev. Allen Hangersord. Interment was in the Williams Cemetery at Chester Gap.
Miss Ruth Menefee
Miss Ruth Claire Menefee of Sperryville died December 18, 1971 at her home after a long illness. She was 81.
A native of Rappahannock County, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Susie Guard Menefee. She was a retired employee of the U. S. Treasurery Department, and a member of Sperryville Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Virginia M. Lewis of Sperryville; niece, Mrs. John R Hudson ol Luray and three nephews, Edward M. Mathews and Field M. Lewis, both of Front Royal and Charles R.-Lewis of Huntly.
A graveside service was held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Sperryville Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Campbell.
Active pallbearers were Nelson Nethers, James Swindler, James Wayland, George W. Hawkins, Carson Johnson, Julian Brown, William Mundy and F. D. Coffey, jr.
John R. Moore, Jr. A graveside service was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Rockhill Farm family cemetery for John R. Moore, jr., 59, whc died Thursday, December 16, 1971 at his home near Flint Hill. The service was conducted by the Rev Jerry Campbell. Born in Rappahannock County he was the son of the late John R and Mary Leona Printz Moore. He is survived by two brothers, Lewis P. Moore and William A. Moore of Flint Hill; one sister, Mrs. Mary L. Krause of Flint Hill. Active pallbearers were B. J. Wood, Herbert Foster, Emory Russell, Wallace Russell, H. S. Barksdale, Dr. Edwin Eastham, Dabney Eastham and Tom Lee.
