Accidents Reported

A station wagon over turned on Route 211 a mile east of Washington, Va. about 5 a m. Sunday. The operator of the 64 VW, Michael J Ashbaker of Grand Caves, La , escaped injury. The investigation is incomplete and charges may be pending Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Routes 211 and 522 in Sperryville at 1:20 p m. Monday, Jackson Browning Yates Schmucker of Etlan, driving a 65 Lincoln, entered Route 211 from the intersecting road and was struck by a car traveling east. Schmucker was charged with failing to yield the right of way after colliding with a 58 Chevrolet by Nelson Page Griffith of Luray. Damage to the Lincoln was set at $300 and at $250 to the Chevrolet.

At 4:20 am. Tuesday, December 21 a motorist struck and killed a cow on Route 211 a mile west of Washington. The 67 Chevrolet pickup which Willie Rogers Clark of Luray was driving when he struck the animal sustained damage in the amount of $500. The cow, owned by Gibson Wharton, was valued at $250.

Lyle Wilson Atkins of Sperryville was cited for hit and run and reckless driving after crashing into Mrs J. Bradley Atkins Arco Service Station on Route 211 just- east of Sperryville. The crash occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday and was investigated by Trooper J. B. Willis.
