A recount of the ballots cast for Supervisor of Hampton District has resulted in a reversed decision and by order of the Circuit Court Newbill Miller has been officially declared the winner. In the November general election, incumbent Miller was opposed by Clarence Baldwin and the early morning tally following the election revealed 232 votes for Baldwin as compared to 231 for Miller. After the ballots were recounted three times Friday during a Circuit Court suit with Miller as petitioner and Baldwin, respondent, the results were exactly reversed. Court was opened by Sheriff Charles K. Estes who introduced the three presiding judges.
Hearing the suit were Circuit Court Judges Carlton Penn, Paul O. Brown and William G. Moffett jr., who administered the oath to attorneys A. L. Brault and James M. Minor jr. counsel for Mr. Miller and Richard D. Obenshain, counsel for Mr. Baldwin.
Two teams of two persons each were appointed to recount the ballots and were instructed and sworn to duty by Judge Moffett. They were: team A, Mrs. Mary C. Parrish, selected by Mr. Miller
