Fort Meyer Chapel was the setting Saturday, March 25, for the wedding of Jill Lees White, daughter of Colonel and Mrs. James Todd White, Jr. (USA Corps of Engineers) of McLean, and grandaughter of Mrs. Norman R. Grant of Washington, D.C., to Thomas Sanford Cooke 111, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sanford Cooke, Jr. of Portsmouth, and Atlanta.
Entering the chapel on her father’s arm, the bride wore a gown of ivory organza and guirpuir lace fashioned in a Renaissance silhouette. The gown featured a high collar with modified leg of mutton sleeves. Guirpuir lace formed a bibbed effect on the bodice, banded the sleeves, encircled the upper part of the softly gathered skirt, and bordered the entire hemline. The full attached chapel length train swept gracefully. Her custom head piece was designed with matching lace in a Renaissance silhouette framing her face. She carried a bouquet of white tea roses and baby’s breath.
The maid of honor, Miss Harriet Anne Stoneburner of Burlington, N.C.,andthe bridesmaids, Mrs. Mary Carol Abercrombie, sister of the groom, of Columbia, S.C.; Miss Mary Anita Rogers of Darlington, S.C. and Miss Barbara Lynn White of McLean, were in coral silk gowns, designed on empire lines with full bishop sleeves and they carried round bouquets of mixed spring flowers of complementary colors.
