Surveys by Game Commission personnel indicate that few anglers took advantage of the extra six weeks of trout fishing provided by this year’s longer season except during the warm days right after Christmas when sizeable crowds turned out following stocking in some areas.
Judging by letters and resolutions received by the Game Commission there still seems to be some interest in a yeaiv around trout season for the state, a subject sure to come up during the Game Commission’s regulation hearing in Richmond, March'24.
THE RUSH RIVER, North Fork of the Thornton River and Piney Branch in Rappahannock County are being stocked and the first consignment of fish arrived Wednesday.
In Madison County, Garth Run, Hughes River, Rapidan River (fish for fun), Robinson and Rose Rivers are being stocked, as well as Gooney Run in Warren County. □
