WHAT WAS DESCRIBED as an “unusual claim” was presented to the Board of Supervisors last Thursday by Dog Warden Jack Bruce.
It was for 29 rabbits, valued at anywhere from $8.50 to $3.25 apiece, costing a total of $217.50. Two dogs got into the rabbit pen at James C. (Doc) Johnson’s and did the deed.
“Is this a legitimate Claim?” asked Chairman Newbill Miller. Bruce said he had confirmed that dogs had, indeed, killed the rabbits, and Commonwealth’s Attorney George Davis said the dog fund was meant to pay for all kinds of “animals raised for the production of meat.”
