In Clarke and Frederick County, orchards suffered spring frost damage and production is expected to be down this year, according to the Frederick County Fruit Growers Association, Inc. An Association spokesman said the crop this year is expected to be about 3,700,000 bushels, compared with a production of 4,580,000 bushels for the two counties last year.
Like orchards in Rappahannock, orchards in Clarke and Frederick are suffering from dry weather, which may reduce the size of the fruit. □
