July 24 the Sperryville Rescue Squad took Mrs. Reed Jenkins from home to the University of Virginia Hospital. She returned home and on July 26 the Washington Rescue Squad answered a call to her home on Tholand’s Piedmont Farm where the infant had made her appearance. The Washington unit transported the mother and baby to Culpeper Memorial Hospital.

July 28 both Sperryville and Washington Fire Companies responded to a fire at the home of Mrs. Eileen Day in Old Hollow, near Sperryville.

Chester Gap Fire Department and Rescue unit answered an alarm to a fire July 24 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Baumann where the kitchen was gutted.
