“HE IS NEVER HOST.” A typographical error. But let us examine the word HOST. A large number; He is ONE, and yet He is everything. A keeper or proprietor: He is the keeper of the universe, an organism that gives nourishment to a parasite. How many of us are parasites, feeding off the eternal prodigality of God’s love? The consecrated bread used at Communion: He is the bread of life. The phrase should have been, “He is never lost.” but there might be a thought here, a good thought—He is always our HOST.

Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time some people bought some black dogs because they thought it would be a good investment. They soon learned that they were more of a liability than an asset, so they turned them loose. However, the people kept supplying the dogs with food and trying to provide the necessities of life for them. But, these dogs began to run in packs and destroy things. A few of the dogs got together and reasoned this way—“These people are being good to us and have given us many things; why should we bite the hand that feeds' us?” So they made a pact to destroy the ringleaders of the dogs that were running wild.
