From Page 1 Rollison—the anti-trust laws. The only trouble is, these laws aren’t being enforced: “Anti-trust laws are as good as signs put up on an orchard, telling the canker worms to stay out.”
“We might as well not have any laws the way they’re being taken care of.”
So James Rollison suggested that the Board of Supervisors pass a resolution “toputpressure on Congress for strict enforcement of the anti-trust laws.” If this were done, he predicted, “it would cut into the holdings of the big corporations, thereby creating more competition” and, eventually, lower prices for everyone. It’ll take time, he conceded, “but it will work.”
