I don’t think the writer was speaking of Golden Delicious or Grime’s Golden apples, he was speaking of the real thing. I read the other day that some country was offering $190 for an ounce of fine gold. That would be $3,040 per pound. An apple of normal size, made of gold, would probably weigh at least three pounds, so let us assume the basket contains three apples. According to my figures the three golden apples would have a total value of $27,360. Valuable words? Some words might be considered of even greater value, depending on who spoke them and to whom. “Because you said: ‘I love you’ once, Those words will always live.
