FRED KINES, architect with the Casanova firm Earth Design, has presented to the community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services (Chapter 10) Board preliminary plans for the construction of the new mental health center in Orange. The proposed site is adjacent to the county’s existing welfare building and nursing home.

The plan, which calls for a twostory structure with a combination brick veneer and wood sided exterior, was adopted by the Board. Kines was authorized to present the plans to the County Board of Supervisors for its consideration at the November meeting.

In recognition of the Culpeper United Giver’s Fund’s support for mental health and related services the Board adopted a resolution encouraging the community to participate enthusiastically in this year’s UGF drive. The Board was also presented a proposal by Phil Childers, Co-ordinator of Mental
