THE VIRGINIA Commission of Outdoor Recreation last Wednesday agreed to undertake a study of the Rappahannock and Rapidan Rivers in order to develop recommendations concerning the desirability of including them in the State or Federal Scenic Rivers System.
Maurice Arnold, Northeast Regional Director of the federal Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, told the state commission that the federal government does not want to manage the sections of the Rappahannock and Rapidan west of Fredericksburg that have been identified as potential national and state Scenic Rivers.
Fauquier, Rappahannock, Culpeper, Orange and Madison counties have all supported a state study of the 29 miles of the Rappahannock from Remington to
