After purchase, be careful to protect your plant from bruising and chilling. Sudden drops in temperature to 50 degrees or below are likely to cause the leaves to wilt and the flower bracts to drop. Make sure your plant is properly wrapped and don’t let it get chilled.
Correct watering is also essential. Overwatering will cause the roots to die while underwatering will cause wilting which will result in leaf drop. When the soil appears light or feels dry when touched, then it should be watered thoroughly. If the pot is wrapped with foil, a hole should be pinched in the bottonf to allow excess water to drain out. After water has drained it should be removed from the saucer.
