ACCORDING to O.A. Norton, Superintendent of Rappahannock County Schools, November was an unusual month for enrollment. He said nine new students were enrolled here; two in the elementary section and seven in the high school.
The building trades class instructor, David Stalker, requested the Board to allow field trips for his class so the students might receive on the job instruction which he feels will enhance their interest and enthusiasm. These students, not academically inclined, are receiving technical training, but Stalker feels the first hand instruction, at the job site, will be necessary to make the program effective. He requested bus transportation for the group.
The board agreed the idea was sound and that details could be worked out. Guidlines would be set ip and the instructor agreed to double as driver.
Mr. Norton reported a school bus ordered last March has not yet been delivered, but hopefully word will be received soon concerning it. Other discussion along the line of bus transportation included a hurrah for the use of a bus for basketball practice. Paul Nichols declared it was the best thing done in a long time as far as public relations is concerned.
