RAPPAHANNOCK County school teachers have asked for a different salary scale. The new scale would cost the school board approximately the same amount that the board has already allocated for instructional salaries in the proposed budget, and would please the teachers much more, according to spokesmen for the Rappahannock Education Association.
At their meeting Tuesday night, April 8, school board members told the teachers that they didn’t look favorably upon the teachers’ proposal. Any changes in the budget now would hurt the changes for approval of the budget by the Supervisors and the public, they felt.
Mary Kay Moose, chairman of the salary committee of the Education Association, told school board members that the teachers wanted a pay scale in which each increase between “step^” in the scale was the same amount. This
