cleanup
All signals are go in the countywide cleanup campaign which began early this week and continues through Saturday, with emphasis on Saturday, April 19 for concentrated effort by everyone.
Dr. Noel Laing of Amissville heads the cleanup drive with assistance from area captains who will be joined, hopefully, by community residents for a clean sweep along roadsides.
Dr. Laing said trash bags will be available in all areas and he advises everyone to wear gloves and comfortable shoes. Workers are advised to be careful of traffic and motorists are asked to look out for these pedestrians.
Captains will arrange for trash pickups along the way. The captains are Bill Fries, 937-4274; Granville Eastham, 675-3268; Howard Holschuh, 937-4721; Joyce DeBergh, 675-3677; Katherine Riley, 937-4055; Ike Parrish, 9374652 and Dr. Laing, 937-4444 day or evening 937-5363.
Work will be concentrated on the secondary roads since major highways have been cleaned by state personnel. Route 642 from Amissville to Viewtown was cleaned last Saturday by Amissville Cub Scouts and Webeloes.D
