as ice cream and milk shakes. Every day has a “special,” which ranges from spaghetti to barbecued spare ribs or chicken. Part of next week, Bradfords will offer scalloped oysters, saurkrout and scalloped potatoes as the special.
PRICES are quite reasonable, and mealtime guests can wander into the general store to buy a newspaper, hunting boots, gloves or groceries while their order is being prepared. Hours for the restaurant are 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
M. R. Bradford has been running the general store since 1946. His father had run it from 1931 until 1946.
M. R. Bradford’s father ran the general store from 1931 to 1946, when Bradford himself took over. Now, M. R. Bradford III of Knoxville, Tenn., is one hand for a few weeks to help his parents “spruce up” the general store.
With the opening of Bradford’s Restaurant, it looks as though Bradford’s General Store will become even more of a community center where residents can gather to learn the latest news, pick up a paper or buy groceries.
