“Give the judge the space he needs,” said Supervisor Clarence Baldwin, “and let the county look for space for Col. McNear, (the zoning administrator). I understand he operates out of his house, anyway.”
As the Supervisors looked perplexed, George Davis said: “You can’t move on everything right now, but you’ve got to make a start.”
H. B. Wood agreed. “This is part of the whole building program that we’ve been studying, but we can’t do anything about it right away.”
“But it is urgent that a serious beginning be made,” said Davis.
“But you can’t study it forever,” said Judge Moffett. “We need the space. We need the room. . .I’m not trying to be difficult, but we do need the space.”
WHEN Davis suggested that the Board appoint a space study committee, Wood thought it would be better to wait to do that until the chairman was present. He made a motion to that effect. Baldwin seconded it and the vote carried, 1 with Eastham voting no.
“You mean you’re not even going to name them until the next time?” asked Judge Moffett.
“I don’t see wasting 30 days just to name a committee,” agreed George Davis.
