Supervisors to consider building a health office that would “pro-, vide for more efficiency and privacy.” He estimated that such a building might cost around $25,000, of which the state would amortize half the cost over a period of 20 years—plus payinjg 30-cents a square foot for maintenance. Such an improved facility would make it possible for his department to improve its output by 30 per cent, with no increase in manpower, Dr. LeGarde said.
Finally, Clerk Jones informed the Board that an appraisal of county buildings is needed for insurance purposes. He had a list with him of all county buildings and their contents, which came to a total of $185,000. All Supervisors agreed that the figures were too low, especially the $78,000 value placed on the court house building itself.
Two real estate people in the audience—Carson Johnson and Roger Batchelder—were named to form a committee to get a new appraisal.—Ray Dilley
