Pressed, Vice Chairman Latham named Wood, Eastham and Luke to be members of a study committee. Then he was reminded of the board’s previous vote not to name a committee until next month’s meeting. “I’ll have to back up on that.” he grinned. He added: “We’ve had the problem for sometime. It shouldn’t be that difficult to live with it for a little longer.”
Judge Moffett was unhappy. “We can work it out if you don’t get too impatient on it,” Latham assured him. But Moffett, and Ned Jones both insisted that the clerk’s office had to have the requested equipment items.
There was a long silence. Latham finally suggested that money be approved to buy a typewriter and adding machine—“and file cabinet,” said Jones. After some more delay, they all voted approval. No dollar amount was mentioned in the motion.
