Voter reminder

Mrs. Joan Mahan, Secretary of the State Board of Elections, urges all Virginians who move their place of residence before the May 4 election to transfer their voting registration to the election district of their new residence. The last day to do this is April 3, for the town elections in May.

Mrs. Mahan noted that if a voter fails to advise the registrar of his change of residence from one place to another, and the move occurred more than 30 days prior to the election, such voter may not be permitted to vote.

Virginia law requires that a person, to be entitled to vote, must be a citizen of the United States, eighteen years of age, a resident of the Commonwealth and of the precinct in which he offers to vote 30 days prior to the election .and must be duly registered and otherwise qualified under the Con- I stitution.D
