An evergreen screen will have to be planted around the site, a permanent closure installed and the sign listing the regulations will have to be maintained.
Luke questioned the feasability of the County investing the money to meet the Fire Departments requirements for only a trial period. “Do you want to spend this much money for 90 days?” he asked.
SUPERVISOR H.B. Woods said he thought that the Fire Department should be willing to work with the Supervisors on an experiment “without all this cost.”
“This will set a precedent,” added Supervisor Butch Eastham.
“A good one,” interjected Davis.
“Good, but maybe a little high,” maintained Eastham.
Davis suggested that Luke negotiate with Hobson and set a limit on expenditures for the 90 day trial period.
Luke agreed to contact Hobson and see what could be worked out. He commented that when he was trying to find a location for the dumpsters he had been plagued by complaints from citizens in the area of every site considered. “Washington Fire Department voted to put them down there (on the Department property) and I don’t think they asked citizen one,” concluded Luke.
EARLIER in the meeting, the Supervisors voted unanimously to adopt the automobile and utility tax change that they had agreed if>on in their budget considerations, in order to hold the property tax rate down.
