James R. Butler, Extension Agent for Albemarle County and a native of Rappahannock County, received the National Association of County Agricultural Agents Distinguished Service Award at the 61st annual Convention Banquet held recently in Richmond.
Butler has provided leadership for increasing swine production in Albemarle and adjoining counties. He has trained 4-H members, who have shown champion and reserve champion swine 12 of the past 18 years. Butler has developed garden projects for more than 120 families in limited income groups and saved them many dollars in food supplies as well as helping them achieve better nutrition for the families.
