Among the highlights of the Washington carnival was the selection and crowning of Little Miss Washington and of a new honorary fire chief who will represent the fire company in parades and related activities for the coming year.
Frances Gray was named the new chief and received her tiara from retiring chief, Shelia Fritts. Doris Jenkins was runner-up.
Lynn Bailey was named the little miss while Beth Conover was second. Edie Eastham, who relinquished the title, participated in the coronation ceremony.
