(Continued from Page 1) with PBM, whoever is hired will be trained by the consulting firm in meeting performance standards set by the Virginia Code, according to Brown. He added that PBM preferred not to hire a contractor as inspector.
The board took no action on PBM’s proposal made several months ago to provide an inspector for $500 "front money”. Under PBM’s proposal, homeowners will pay inspection fees directly to the building inspector. Also, PBM offered to conduct a training seminar for local contractors on complying with state criteria as part of the package deal.
In announcing that the supervisors would take no action on Monday, Luke said the decision on the building inspector will probably be made at a special meeting.
Historical Survey
The supervisors by unanimous vote gave the go ahead for an individual on the staff of the Rappahannock-Rapidan
Planning District Commission to be assigned for a year in Rappahannock County to conduct an inventory of historical buildings. Helen Holschuh from the county Historical Society told the supervisors that they need only provide office space, file cabinet and telephone for the surveyor.
"Maybe they could answer the telephone for the building inspector,” joked supervisor H. B. Wood.
