“If we chlorinate it at the site so it can go into town lines, it will be chlorinated twice more as it goes through out regular system,” the mayor said. “That’s an awful lot of chlorination.”
Councilman Brad Fisher, who is a chemist with the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, said that chlorination would not be a problem. He said that chlorine could be adjusted so that the overall chlorination would not exceed recommended levels. “I think you’ll find that a gas chlorinator at the site is going to be the best solution,” Fisher said.
