Estate planning for formers
Planning for retirement and settlement of an estate is a difficult task for everyone, but can be especially so for farm families, whose situations and requirements are often different from those in other professions. The Ya- Cooperative Extension Service has organized a seminar designed to speak to the particular needs of farm families in planning retirement and estate settlement. The workshop will be held -Monday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at thejBarboursville fire hall. Topics will include Social Security and the Farmer, Retirement Planning, After-Tax Strategies, Economic Outlook andOpportunities, Tools and Importance of Estate Planning and Estate Planning and the Family Farm. Cost-share signup ends Ian. 15 t Jan. 15 is the cutoff date for applications for the 1991 Chesapeake Bay Cost Share Program offered by the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District. This year, landowners can benefit from a new $5,000 maximum on funding, up from the $3,500 cap in previous years. "Because of this unique cost-share program," said a SWCD spokesman, "there's something you can do about the problems facing our waters." The program allows farmers "to install conservation practices that protect Virginia's waters and lead to more productive farms."
