By LOU HATTER Katvahaimock New* Staff Writer -— After posting a 2-2 district record during their first few outings before the Christmas holidays, the Rappahannock Panthers posted their biggest victory of the season so ' '"far last Friday, beating undefeated Page County 60-43 before a home •crowd. ~ James Roy led what Coach Gary Leake called “an extremely balanced . offensive attack” with 17 points, fol'■ 1 lowed by tearilmate Bobby Jenkins with 16 and Paul Hitt and Jay Butler with 11 points each. “Anytime we can place four players in double fig* ures, you can expect a good night,” Coach Leake said of the game. " The four Panthers have spearheaded the team’s offense so far this , season, with Butler and Hitt averag' ing 16 points each game and Roy and •^Jenkins contributing another 10 Mich. “We definitely put it all together, both offensively and defensively, for * ‘"our biggest win of the season,” the coach said. “I was pleased with our - aggressive defense, and with our balanced offense.” ^ The game against Page County highlighted the best of what, so far, has been a season of ups and downs —■ -for the Panthers. “Our record so far doesn’t reflect the potential on the r team,” the coach said. Touted in the m preseason for its quickness, the team so far has suffered from a lack of rebounding, and the free throw percentage is off, he explained. T " Within the next two weeks, the Panthers will have played each team ' •> in the hotly contested Bull Run District one time.
